Ho Technical University and GIZ Partnership

Work has began on the installation of a Solar Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) at Ho Technical University under the GIZ-Green People’s Energy Project.

The143,000 Euro facility is being installed at University’s Demonstration by construction firm, Pumptech Limited.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, together with, Mr. Rafael Wiese, Project Manager for GIZ-Green People’s Energy Project, on Monday broke ground for the commencement of work.
The project, when completed in a month’s time, would serve as a demonstration centre for developing the capacity of training institutions, technicians/installers and credit officers in solar powered irrigation systems (SPIS) in Ghana.

It will also be used to provide competency-based trainings and improve efficiency in handling, operation and maintenance of SPIS hardware in Ghana.
